Treatment Specialties:
Whether it is your first time looking for a therapist or a “last ditch effort” to get help, AJ believes that she can support you. When you are working with AJ, and yes, therapy is work, it is her hope that you will feel warmth, genuineness, and judgment-free compassion. Just the concept of finally feeling heard can be quite powerful in itself. AJ is trained in a number of therapeutic approaches but she does not believe in a cookie cutter approach to clients, and will tailor her intervention to each client’s needs. While techniques and interventions are important, the rapport and relationship between therapist and client is what is most powerful.
AJ received her Masters of Social Work from San Francisco State University, and has been a licensed professional since 2007 in California, and 2021 in North Carolina. She is a Certified Grief Informed Professional (CGP). She is open about how she is both a mental health professional and consumer, in part to help dispel the stigma associated with getting mental health treatment. She understands the perspective of being the one “on the couch”. AJ welcomes you to continue your courageous journey toward wellness by reaching out to our office.
